6/9/2023 0 Comments Voss patrick white summary![]() A wealthy draper named Mr Bonner, and several other worthy chaps, have sponsored an expedition to cross Australia, and the man to lead this daring venture is a strange visionary German named Voss. Voss was published in 1957 and, as I say, it won the Miles Franklin Award, and it had a fair bit to do with White winning the Nobel Prize. ![]() We might explore that idea as our discussion unfolds. But it is also appropriate because it's just two days after Anzac Day, and I reckon this novel has a lot to say about death and sacrifice and being Australian in ways that overlap with Anzac Day. It's an appropriate choice because we're approaching the centenary of White's birth, which is why we did The Aunt's Story last month.
